A self-retaining (spinlock or ratchet) distractor which when closed has atraumatic and very narrow/low profile tips to help when entering the joint. Once the tips are positioned correctly in the joint the handles are pressed together to open up the tips and therefore the window to the joint. The width of the tips when closed is the minimum spread and the widest the distractor can open is the maximum spread in the descriptions.
